Insulation is key to making your home more comfortable and energy efficient. SEAI Insulation grants are available for walls and attics to help reduce heat loss and your heating bills.
The best insulation solution for your home depends on your wall and roof type. Solid walls will require internal or external insulation, whereas it may be possible to fill a cavity wall if there is sufficient space available between the blocks.
A borescope – essentially a camera inserted into your wall from the outside – can help to determine if your wall is suitable for cavity insulation. Roof insulation for a standard attic can be very straightforward, while vaulted ceilings or dormers may require the application of insulated plasterboard. Costs can vary, so it’s advisable to get an expert opinion to ensure you’re choosing the best option for your budget.

The Insulation Grants are an incentive from the Government of Ireland to insulate your home. The grants can be accessed through the One Stop Shop & Individual Grants.
Electric Ireland Superhomes is a One Stop Shop which looks after all the key stages of a home energy retrofit, from retrofit design through to project completion and management of SEAI grant funding.
Grants offered are provided by the Government of Ireland through the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
To be eligible for One Stop Shop grants, your home should be built before 2011 with a starting BER of B3 or lower.
After your retrofit, your home should reach a BER of B2 or higher, with a noticeable boost in energy efficiency.
