This aims to prepare for an increase in completed retrofits from 100 houses in 2019 to 500 houses in 2023 and implementing up to 10% of all retrofits in Ireland by 2030. When implemented the research and planning through this project will support 13,000 FTE jobs in the construction and retrofitting sector and save 167 kilo tonnes of CO2.
Superhomes 2030 facilitates a Deep Retrofit Community of Practice (CoP) across Europe where leading experts, practitioners, retrofit specialists and agencies involved in Deep Retrofit share experience, knowledge and competency thus driving the retrofit agenda. Technical solutions using best practice standards are being developed to include new innovations and technical solutions. Opportunities to expand the Superhomes model outside of Ireland are also being explored, using linkages created through the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) and FEDARENE (European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and Environment).
The project focuses on research and development activities covering:
- Regional One Stop Shops which engage high performance contractors.
- Capacity building and training for surveyors, contractors and technical staff.
- Attractive finance solutions independent of public finances
- Optimisation of technical analysis and design systems and solutions.
- Creation of open source energy performance data platforms which demonstrate the value of undertaking nZEB retrofits to the market.
