Position description:
Electric Ireland Superhomes is a recently launched joint venture with an ambition of guiding Irish homeowners through the home energy retrofit process to deliver on Ireland’s climate action targets.
Through our One-Stop-Shop we offer professional services through design and oversight of whole house energy efficiency solutions and help with access to finance such as grant support and co-ordination. Electric Ireland Superhomes has nationwide reach and will be a pivotal part in the energy transition in Ireland.
To support our growth ambitions we are currently recruiting a number of Retrofit Energy Engineers across Ireland. Working as a retrofit engineer at Electric Ireland Superhomes, you will be mentored by the Engineering team and work with Operations, Sales and Finance in a well-rounded position.

Key Responsibilities
- Domestic retrofit, design and implementation of deep retrofit whole house solutions with renewable energy including heat pumps.
- Work alongside the Engineering team to execute and deliver retrofit projects on time and within budget.
- Conducting energy audits alongside engineering colleagues and assisting in pre and post-energy analysis.
- Working with clients (mainly homeowners) to understand their energy needs, identifying appropriate retrofit solutions and design and implementation of those solutions.
- Being part of the Energy Technical Team in the identification, analysis, design, costing and project management of domestic energy conservation projects.
- Delivering a One-Stop-Shop energy retrofitting service to private home-owners, housing providers and wider stakeholders in the delivery of 2030 targets for domestic retrofit.
- Project Specification & Tender Cost Analysis using a value of money model.
- Practice and implement our mission of the “whole building approach” with all our projects which is the understanding that a space performs optimally as an integrated whole system.
- Supporting the wider Engineering team with ad hoc activities as required.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Degree (Level 8) in Energy Engineering or related discipline (Mech, Elec, Civil, Arch, Build Services, Environment etc.)
- Knowledge of building products, construction details, relevant building codes, regulations, and quality standards
- Ability to understand technical aspects of building energy performance and construction generally
- Knowledge in particular areas such as heat pumps, heating systems, solar PV, and fabric upgrades
- Excel and Database management experience
- Excellent communication skills, ability to collaborate, and attention to detail
- Able to prioritise workloads and work effectively to deadlines
- Proven self-starter and self-motivated
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels in client organisations.
- Demonstrated ability to work as an integral part of a team, as well as individually
- Full Driver’s License, and own transport
Desirable
- Experience in energy efficient design of buildings or building services
- Building fabric and retrofit management
- Technical knowledge of heat pump and other heating systems
- Knowledge of current building regulations, NSAI SR54, and / or SEAI Technical Standards for residential retrofit a benefit
- Good Understanding & User of DEAP3 & DEAP4 BER software
- Knowledge & Understanding of Construction Health & Safety Legislation
- Understanding of climate change, energy use and the relationship between the two
- Experience in AutoCAD/ REVIT or other similar tools
Location
Electric Ireland Superhomes head office is based in Thurles, Co. Tipperary, however we are recruiting engineers based across Ireland. Travel will be a feature of this role. This role will be a blend of site-based, office-based and remote working.
