FAQs

Your Retrofit

What is the difference between a whole house retrofit and a Heat Pump+ upgrade?

A whole house retrofit typically includes measures such as window replacement, airtightness and advanced ventilation. This is also known as a deep retrofit. On the other hand, there are many homes where deeper measures are not required, usually when the home is built after 2005. In these homes, windows are often in good condition and airtightness and ventilation are already adequate. This means we can apply a lighter touch heat pump retrofit.

Do I need to move out of my home during the retrofit?

Over 90% of our customers stay at home during their retrofit. Sometimes, for major works, a small number will vacate their home for a short period. Prior to signing contacts, we agree a programme of works with you and the approved contractor so that these arrangements can be discussed and agreed.

When can I start my retrofit project?

A start date for your retrofit will be agreed between you, Electric Ireland Superhomes, and the approved contractor.
