Traditional Homes Pilot Scheme

This pilot scheme by SEAI helps homeowners access One Stop Shop (OSS) grants while using materials that are suitable for traditional homes. The pilot will provide tailored solutions for your traditional home and the upgrade options include all the technologies available to modern homes.

Projects must still achieve most of the targets associated with the regular OSS grant; however, the scheme recognises that different approaches are required for older buildings to ensure breathability and maintain building health. Qualifying homes can get up to €30,000 in grant funding.

Electric Ireland Superhomes is a participating OSS in the Traditional Homes Pilot scheme. If you are an architect or engineer with a suitable project, we can assist you in preparing an application. You will need the following in place:

  • Full planning permission if required
  • A qualified contractor
  • An Architect, Building Surveyor or Structural Engineer with conservation accreditation to sign off on the traditional materials being used. It is essential a specialist in traditional buildings is engaged to ensure that the thermal upgrades and material used is suitable for the dwelling.

Vacant Homes Grant

Homes that qualify for the Vacant Homes Grant typically require a deep retrofit to bring the home to modern standards of comfort and efficiency. Fortunately, it is possible to combine the Vacant Homes Grant and SEAI grants through the Once Stop Shop programme.

Electric Ireland Superhomes is an accredited OSS for homes involved in the Vacant Homes Grant scheme. If you are an architect with clients who have secured this grant, Electric Ireland Superhomes can assist you in accessing the best OSS energy grants and advise on how these grants can be combined to your best advantage. You need the following in place to avail of this service:

  • Approval for the Vacant Homes Grant
  • Full planning permission if required
  • A qualified contractor
