The Story 

Theresa’s parents purchased this home in 1962.  Despite not feeling particularly cold, Theresa would wake to condensation on the windows and notice a dark mould forming around the frames, that damp feeling was present all the time.

For Theresa, it felt like now or never. She decided that a One Stop Shop was the way to go and contacted Electric Ireland Superhomes to fully manage her retrofit project.

The Measures: 

Following a detailed home survey carried out by an Electric Ireland Superhomes engineer, the outcome was a report outlining the specific retrofit measures to bring Theresa’s home up to an A1 BER rating.

The measures included:

– External Wall Insulation 

-Floor Insulation 

– Attic Insulation 

– Windows and Doors 

– Airtightness 

– Heat Pump 

– Solar PV

The Process:

Having a dedicated point of contact made all the difference for Theresa throughout the project: “Our engineer Dmitry was always at the end of the phone, Theresa explains. If I wasn’t sure about something, there was always great advice coming from Dmitry. When you’re working full time, you don’t have time for these projects when you’re trying to do it yourself, but Electric Ireland Superhomes just took care of everything from start to finish.” 

The project was also completed in a timely manner, with Theresa noting that “the whole process was very smooth, and it took only three months to complete the full house retrofit.” 

The Results: 

The transformation has been significant. As Theresa describes it:
“I nearly have a new house; all the walls are insulated, all new windows, doors and radiators, with a new heat pump and Solar PV installed.  

All the measures combined have delivered an A1-rated home for Theresa, resolving the longstanding damp issues and creating a warmer, healthier, and more energy efficient place to live.
